CityNerd host Ray Delahanty was recently in Seattle and made a video with food blogger Kenji López-Alt while he was in town, focusing on what makes Pike Place Market great. Obviously, the recent (partial) pedestrianization of Pike Place came up! Ray and Kenji note the "Limited Car Access Pilot" program has created more space for people walking, creating a more pleasant experience for people shopping or trying to grab a meal. López-Alt shared a few of his favorite purveyors, such as Maíz, Pasta Casalinga, and Post Alley Pizza.
Both stressed that Market goers should tell vendors (and their elected officials) they like the pedestrianization program so that it sticks around for good. As a pilot program, there are no guarantees.
